I've been intrigued by your pursuit ...Hi Robyn,
I've been intrigued by your pursuit of alternative ordination since I heard you speak at Metanoia, and discovered you were married to my good friend Gerry! And then you showed up at my Sunday piano gig, Parkrose, helping them reimagine themselves. Congratulations on your work breaking the mold. Bit by bit, the petrification of Methodism is beginning to wear away. The question in everyone's mind is whether the patient can survive the surgery.Mark Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13056190261022322798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749045057142445781.post-49103886824824094982013-05-27T09:36:30.836-07:002013-05-27T09:36:30.836-07:00I have come to believe that, for the United Method...I have come to believe that, for the United Methodist Church to survive and grow, it must give up its attachment to the word "united." Methodist unity has been forced for decades by its arcane polity: a governing body that meets once every four years, consisting of both lay and clerical representatives of the entire denomination, apportioned by population.
I completely agree with this. In fact, in 2008 during my third year at PSR, I wrote a paper for my UMC polity class called Methodist's Un-tied. Schisms are not new for Methodist's. When the UMC was formed, it was not united in any way except for the power of the majority to silence the minority. It has not been United. It is time for a new Methodist movement to emerge... that is why I sought ordination in the Church Within a Church. www.cwac.us
RevRobynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17642152565195843678noreply@blogger.com
